Empowering Seattle Performance Medicine

Seattle Performance Medicine is a health and wellness clinic that works with athletes and the general public to achieve their physical goals. They're just the type of business we love to work with: they're in our backyard, do important work, and are run by a team of sharp, motivated people.

Devining for DTEK

Hello, my name is Erik Fadiman and I'm a graphic "deviner". That means I'm a hybrid designer/developer; I can design web sites as well as build them. I've been a graphic designer for over ten years, and I've been teaching interactive design at the Seattle Central Creative Academy for seven. It's a fantastic job because it forces me to keep up with new technologies in our constantly expanding industry.

Announcing the new DTEK LLC

Happy New Year from the newly-formed DTEK LLC!

We're proud to announce that as of January 1, DTEK LLC is now a limited liability company. While largely behind the scenes, these changes are the culmination of years of hard work and a big business development push in 2011, and represent the next step in our growth as a firm.

Migrating projects from subversion to git

A version control system is essential to keep track of code changes, and provide a repeatable, reversible process for applying those changes to development, staging and production websites. At DTEK, we used Subversion (svn) for years, but recently made the change to Git. I won't get too deep into the reasons why, but the main win for us is the fast and simple branching; our workflow seems to be less "work" and more "flow" now that we're using git. ;-)

Migrating Warner Coaching to WordPress

"Anything or anyone that does not bring you alive is too small for you."
— David Whyte

This quote lives on every page of Brooke Warner's new site, created to help aspiring writers with everything from turning their ideas into a viable project to finding just the right publisher. If you sit down and talk with Brooke for any time at all, you'll see why these words work for her. She's driven, organized and pragmatic—and she's genuinely excited about everything she does. And that's why she was such a joy to work with on our second project together.

DTEK and local community: Seattle's Project Room

We were recently delighted to launch our friend and neighbor The Project Room's new website at projectroomseattle.org. The site creates a digital extension of curator Jess van Nostrand's gorgeous new non-profit arts space, and takes the conversation about art Off Paper. It's a WordPress site with a full HTML5 theme.

Solstice Investment Research

I've known investment analyst Paul Howard for years, and when his new company, Solstice Investment Research, needed a new web site in 2009 he reached out right away. He and his partner, Melanie Ryerson, were excited for Solstice to show some forward-thinking and brand intelligence, and revolutionize the use of web and mobile technologies, in a field that has traditionally been stodgy and slow to change.

More Design at DTEK!

Hey everyone! I'm Kristen. I've known Andy for years, and I'm very excited to join the DTEK team as a graphic designer! They're such a great group of people.

Re-building my MacBook

The Failure

So there I was, peacefully working away in the hotel lobby last Friday and I suddenly got the "beach ball". I waited... got some coffee... drank it all... waited some more... still nothing.

Making Connections: DrupalCon 2011 in Chicago

From March 5-11, I was in Chicago, representing DTEK at DrupalCon - the semi-annual gathering of the wonderfully diverse and vibrant Drupal community. The event brings together all types of Drupal users, and offers formal tracks and sessions on widely varied topics, from design and user interface, to ecommerce and core development. It's also a chance for many informal conversations about anything Drupal related, with the nearly 3,000 attendees from all over the world.
