About Dtek

We are media buffs who believe in the democratizing potential of the Internet and digital technologies. Principally, Dtek is Andy Hieb and Rhys Daunic -- college chums from Washington University in St. Louis who co-founded Dtek in 2000 to help "the little guy" benefit from these emerging media.

This mission has also led to development of The Media Spot, our youth media literacy initiative, and Dtek Industries, our salon and gallery, both of which inform our work for clients and build the Dtek extended community.

Code by Andy Hieb

Andy Hieb Andy has been building web sites since 1997. He headed up web development for a small software company in Atlanta for three years before co-founding Dtek. He's a devotee of the written word, and sees a poetic elegance to the code behind web sites. He's a big fan of web standards and open-source software. Andy lives in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle with his wife and son.

Design by Rhys Daunic

Rhys Daunic Rhys has been working in media since 1997, handling graphic design and video production for Dtek since 2000. He's produced videos since he was a teenager, studied film as an undergrad, worked in the film industry in New York, and has taught media literacy through video production in Atlanta and New York since 2000. In 2005 Rhys earned a Masters degree in Media Studies from The New School University, combining the study of media literacy, aesthetic theory, graphic design and video production. He lives in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn.
